A new WhatsApp feature has been added to the app for Android users. It is the Fingerprint Unlock feature. This feature is currently available only for beta users. If you have enrolled in WhatsApp’s beta program, then you can try this feature by simply updating the app from Google Playstore.
Is this new feature useful?
The new Fingerprint lock will require fingerprint authentication when you try to open the app. However, you can still reply without fingerprint, from the notification panel. Also, you can answer all the WhatsApp calls. The authentication secures your chats. That’s it. No one will be able to read your personal chats.
CAUTION: I had a terrible experience with this feature. You can’t open WhatsApp without fingerprint authentication. There’s no alternative method. I enabled the fingerprint lock. And my smartphone’s fingerprint scanner is a legend. So, if your device’s scanner is also a savage, then don’t enable the fingerprint lock or you’ll regret it. The only way to bypass this lock is to clear the data of Whatsapp. But you’ll lose all the chats.
How to get this feature?
As I mentioned above, this feature is only available on the beta version. If you are not a beta user, you can either enrol into the beta program by clicking here or wait till this feature hits the global version.
If you are already a beta user, all you need to do is open Google Playstore and update WhatsApp messenger to its latest version.
After updating the app simply go the Settings->Account->Privacy.
Scroll down and enable the Fingerprint lock. You can set the timeout.
So, that was all for today. I hope you got what you were looking for. Stay tuned for more interesting articles like this.
